About Me

Since 1998, I have enjoyed serving international students with my husband with the gift of hospitality and friendship. Prior to that I lived in Japan as single woman teaching English in Osaka for two years and then with my husband near Yokohama for two more years. I have been privileged to get to know people from all over the world through these experiences. These friendships greatly impact how I view my own culture and how I see the world. What a gift they all have been and continue to be in my life.

A perfect day for me would include a hike in the California redwoods or walk on the beach near my home hoping to spot dolphins. And then I'd head off to eat food from a country other than my own. My many international friends have given me a love for their cultures and their food! Dim sum. Sushi. Dosas. Kabobs. Bibimbap. I am a foodie and love to try new restaurants or cook with new spices.

I am a very grateful mother of two adopted children who are gifts beyond words. My son was placed in my arms in 2003 and my daughter in 2009. Before they entered my life, I had to struggle through the grief that comes with infertility, a failed adoption and 10 years in the adoption process. During those years, I also walked with two dear friends who each lost a child at birth and the tragic death of my father all within the span of four years. In 2011, my oldest child was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome. This diagnosis did not come as a surprise, but the reality meant a new road to travel with him. And years later, I continue to learn how to live life with a child who has special needs.

All of these life experiences challenge me to go deeper to discover the gift of gratitude in my life. These gift often come unexpectedly or beckon me to slow down so I can catch them. An discover God's gifts of grace -- His dew drops.

Thanks for stopping by!
